In the midst of the National League Championship Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs early in October, Lawry’s The Prime Rib Chicago and Beverly Hills decided to bet on the outcome. On their Facebook pages the restaurants asked followers to suggest what the payoff should be.
Over one hundred people responded. Many of them thought the losers should wear gear from the opposing team during a dinner service. The co-workers agreed it was a great idea and the bet was on. When the Los Angeles team won, our Beverly Hills crew happily shipped a box of Dodger gear to their Second City counterparts, who provided their own L sign signifying the Cubs’ loss.
Don’t ever let anyone say our co-workers don’t honor their bets! Carvers, servers, managers and bartenders were all sporting some Dodger blue the next night. We suspect they may have actually had some fun with it—we’re sure their guests did.

To soften the blow, Lawry’s The Prime Rib, Beverly Hills donated $1000 to Cubs Care, the Chicago Cubs charity dedicated to helping the city’s families and youth.
In return, the Chicago Prime Rib gave $1000 to The Midnight Mission serving the homeless on Los Angeles’ Skid Row.
All the Lawry’s The Prime Rib Facebook followers who contributed wager ideas were automatically entered in a drawing from which five were randomly selected and awarded a $50 Lawry’s gift card.
We don’t like to see anyone lose, but it’s nice to know that with this Lawry’s bet there were lots of unexpected winners.
