Lawry’s Dives in to Support CORE

Lawry’s The Prime Rib, Five Crowns and Tam O’Shanter raise funds for a good cause.

Why was Lawry’s The Prime Rib Beverly Hills General Manager Aniel Chopra standing in the restaurant parking lot on September 14th soaking wet in a tuxedo—and smiling?

As part of the restaurant’s mid-year review, Aniel had organized a “Summer in the City” themed co-worker party to benefit Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE), a nationwide charity that offers grants to families in need. He brought in a hot dog vendor, an ice cream truck and a 450-gallon water tank filled to the brim and outfitted with a spring-loaded chair and a bullseye.

Dressed in formal attire he felt suited the Beverly Hills setting, Aniel took the seat above the water and waited. Chances to test throwing skills and “Dunk a Manager” were purchased three baseballs at a time. Carver German Torres proved to be such an accurate pitcher that co-workers began sponsoring him and cheered as he sent the manager into the drink again and again.

Everybody had a great time, especially Aniel, who said he’d happily “do it again to support a good cause and build camaraderie.”

The September party followed three Pour for CORE events earlier in the summer that partnered Lawry’s The Prime Ribs across the country, Five Crowns and Tam O’Shanter with Rodney Strong Vineyards. Wine tastings and special chef creations highlighted each fundraiser and gathered sizable contributions to a worthy organization.
