Chairman Emeritus announces his retirement.
AFTER 65 YEARS with the family business, Richard N. Frank has retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lawry’s Restaurants, Inc.. When they learned of Mr. Frank’s decision, the Board, noting their “enduring respect, admiration and gratitude for his leadership,” named him Chairman Emeritus. He remains an active Director.
Today, Mr. Frank enjoys a national reputation as an innovative restaurateur and successful entrepreneur. He popularized Lawry’s Seasoned Salt, building an international spice company, Lawry’s Foods, Inc., in the process.

His creation of Lawry’s Beef Bowl, which is an integral part of the annual Rose Bowl Game festivities, earned him the distinction of being one of very few non-athletic inductees into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame.
The incoming Chairman of the Board is John K. Van de Kamp, former Attorney General of California, distinguished public servant, and a family member who has served on Lawry’s Board of Directors for 27 years.
Richard R. Frank, Richard N.’s son, who succeeded his father as President and C.E.O. of Lawry’s Restaurants in 1997, has been elected Vice Chairman of the Board. The new officers’ appointments follow a long tradition of family participation in the company.

In the immediate future, Mr. Frank looks forward to spending time with Mary Alice, his wife of sixty-five years, his children, grand children and 2-year-old great grandson.
